1977 Bootsy Collins Rubber Band Tour Vintage Funk Tee Shirt
Original 1977 Bootsy’s Rubber Band tour T-shirt featuring Bootsy Collins with his signature star-shaped Space Bass, rendered in a fantastic red-and-silver graphic. Bootsy’s Rubber Band had only formed the previous year as an offshoot of George Clinton’s Parliament-Funkadelic collective, making this an especially early piece from Bootsy’s emergence as a bandleader in his own right.
The 1977 tour coincided with Ahh... The Name Is Bootsy, Baby!, the landmark second Bootsy’s Rubber Band album that reached No. 1 on the R&B album chart. The faded black body, metallic-looking silver ink and unmistakable Space Bass imagery make this a beautiful artifact from the height of the original P-Funk era.
